3A Region III District 22 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Coldspring-Oakhurst was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in 3A Region III District 22. The Trojans defeated Splendora 55-7 earlier in the week.
Shepherd moved up to 597 from 698 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to make the jump by topping Tarkington 54-14.
Hargrave's Preston Townley and Cole Harrell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Townley has thrown for 1524 yards this season, while Harrell, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 23 catches for 534 yards. Brandon Foster from Cleveland leads the league in rushing with 459 yards.
The top two teams in 3A Region III District 22 will face off this week when first place Hargrave takes on second place Coldspring-Oakhurst. The Falcons beat the Indians last week, while Coldspring-Oakhurst defeated the Wildcats.
Shepherd made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,116 from 7,328. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 54-14 victory over the Longhorns last week.
