The University School Preppers are taking a road trip to  square off against the St. Ignatius Wildcats  at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The last three games University School has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
University School's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's  struggle, when Grove City hitters got past them. The Preppers fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of  11-9 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  defeat the Preppers have suffered  since April 27, 2024.
  Jack Nelson was cooking despite his team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI and one  run.  Deacon Nelson was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with three  runs and one  stolen base.
Meanwhile, St. Ignatius faced Mentor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of  5-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Wildcats' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
St. Ignatius also got a great performance from  Patrick Cousineau as he  tossed five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits. Cousineau has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run any time he's  pitched this season.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Jacob Merheb, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jackson Boyer, who  went 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  run.
 St. Ignatius' record is now 11-4. As for University School, their loss dropped their record down to 21-5.
 University School suffered a grim  10-0 defeat to St. Ignatius  when the teams last played  back in April of 2021. Can the Preppers avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
