Basketball Recap: Lane Tech's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lane Tech entered their game against Glenbrook South on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lane Tech Champions took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenbrook South Titans. The Champions were probably out for revenge after losing 65-40 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loss or not, Lane Tech got some senior leadership from Grace Bush and Sophia Lamperis. Bush went 5 for 8 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds, while Lamperis posted 13 points and three steals. Lamperis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Mehlis, who earned four points and seven rebounds.

Lane Tech's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5. As for Glenbrook South, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Lane Tech will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln-Way West at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Lane Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. Glenbrook South and Glenbard North will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Glenbrook South is facing Glenbard North at the right time seeing as Glenbard North is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
