First Academy will face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. First Academy walked away with a 9-4 victory over Calvary Chapel Academy.
Rebecca Barnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 14 hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, First Academy got a massive performance out of Ashlyn Neiford, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Neiford also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Madi Myers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
First Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy got the win against Seabreeze on Friday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Eagles have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Trinity Christian Academy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jenessa Pomales gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kay'La Jones, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Manzano, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Trinity Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for First Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both First Academy and Trinity Christian Academy just can't seem to miss. First Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
