The Mater Lakes Academy Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coral Gables Cavaliers at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday. Both teams come into the  match bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.

 In other pitching news,  Javier Reyes looked comfortable as he  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also only allowed one  walk).
 Back at the plate,  Andres Gomez was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Bobby Torres was another key contributor,  going 1-for-4 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Coral Gables had to endure  a  seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand American  a   10-0 shutout  on Thursday. The  victory was just what Coral Gables needed coming off of  a  17-1 defeat in their prior  contest.
 Like Mater Lakes Academy, Coral Gables also got a great game from a two-way player:  Julian Saveedra. He  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Saveedra was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Brian Santana was a standout: he scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Michael ?lvarez, who  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 Mater Lakes Academy is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last eight games,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record  this season. As for Coral Gables, their win  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-12.
 Mater Lakes Academy came up short against Coral Gables in their previous matchup  back in February of 2023, falling  4-1. Thankfully for Mater Lakes Academy,  Idail Diago (who   struck out 15 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits (and not a single walk)) won't be suiting up this time.
