Video: J.T. Daniels Ultimate Highlights
Mater Dei sophomore quarterback broke county record for career touchdown passes Friday. The list of great high school quarterbacks to come out of California's Orange County is impressive.
Among them, Heisman winners Matt Leinart and John Huarte. NFL players Carson Palmer, Matt Barkley, Steve Beuerlein, Mark Sanchez and Todd Marinovich.
USC's hottest commodity now is Sam Darnold, a recent graduate of
San Clemente, which now boasts a pretty fair quarterback in
Jack Sears.
As a sophomore at
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.),
J.T. Daniels has passed all of them.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder completed 14 of 17 attempts for 304 yards and five touchdowns for the nation's No. 3 team in a 69-0 playoff win Friday. Daniels played just the first half for the Monarchs (11-0), which led 55-0 at that point.
That brings his season stats to 3,865 yards with 58 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
Daniels now has 91 career touchdown passes, an Orange County record.
Did we mention, he has up to four more games in his sophomore season?
