Lucerne Valley was outmatched by Academy of Careers & Exploration on the road and fell 58-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lucerne Valley has scored all season.
Derrick Tyler was Lucerne Valley's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Tyler also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Valentin Garibay took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Academy of Careers & Exploration's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Rayden Rego was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lucerne Valley's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Lucerne Valley will head out on the road to face off against Silver Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silver Valley will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they will play host again and welcome University Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday. University Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
