The Booneville Blue Devils will finish 2023 at home by hosting the North Panola Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Booneville will be strutting in after a win while North Panola will be coming in after a loss.
Booneville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season. They breezed by Ashland at home to the tune of 58-28. Given Booneville's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Ashland is ranked 212th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Panola has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a serious blow against Holmes County Central last Friday, falling 59-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Panola has scored all season.
The win makes it two in a row for Booneville and bumps their season record up to 11-1. As for North Panola, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
