On Monday, the Danville Bears faced the Williamstown Blue Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Danville snuck past the Blue Devils with a 47-42 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Danville, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nick Mascitti, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Mascitti hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Evan Bailey, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Danville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Williamstown, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Danville will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Winooski will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Williamstown will take on the Bullets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Vermont (Bellows Free Academy is ranked 43rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 25th).
