Basketball Recap: Jacob Cook Key Part of a Team Effort in Archers Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Twin Peaks Classical Academy, Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They secured a 45-39 W over the Nederland Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 42-40 last Friday.

Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Cook out in front who posted two points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Cook is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Gavin Candelaria was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Nederland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Ivey, who put up 15 points. The dominant performance gave Ivey a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hertzfeld, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Nederland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Ascent Classical Academy Northern Colorado and Poudre Community Academy will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Nederland, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Twin Peaks Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
