Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the East Duplin Panthers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 28-7 walloping at the hands of Whiteville on Friday. East Duplin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Zach Brown threw for 105 yards on 13 of 23 attempts. Keeshon Mckinnie was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards. On the ground, Jeremiah Judge rushed for 54 yards.
Nallegem Powell was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
East Duplin's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Whiteville, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
East Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Whiteville will head out on the road to face off against SouthWest Edgecombe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. SouthWest Edgecombe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
