Chloe Mathis put on an assist clinic at the Archbishop Mitty Tournament while leading the Torreys to the championship with a 3-1 win over Presentation (San Jose, Calif.).
Mathis finished with 42 assists in the championship game and had 135 assists for the four-game tournament.
For the season, she is averaging 9.3 assists per game while leading La Jolla Country Day, the defending California Division IV state champions, to a 6-0 record. Mathis has been selected as the MaxPreps National Volleyball Player of the Week, as presented by Under Armour.
"Chloe is just setting at a real high level right now," said La Jolla Country Day coach Peter Ogle. "She's setting like a Division I college setter."
Mathis also leads the team in service aces with 14, including three in the championship match. She has 16 kills on the season and has made just seven ball-handling errors in 211 attempts.
In the championship match over Presentation, Mathis caught defenders off guard with a number of quick sets
and dink shots that allowed her to rack up four kills in the finals.
