Baseball Recap: Kingston Wins Going Away Against Hugo

Kingston won against Hugo on Monday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Kingston put the hurt on Hugo with a sharp 15-1 victory. With that win, the Redskins brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Hayden Seeney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Seeney was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Kingston: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kingston got a massive performance out of Lander Burkhalter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Burkhalter's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reid Patterson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kingston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Kingston's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Hugo, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Kingston will face off against Stonewall at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Stonewall's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Kingston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hugo, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Battiest on the 25th.
