Basketball Recap: GV Christian Skates Past Laughlin with Ease

GV Christian won the last time they faced Laughlin and things went their way on Friday too. The GV Christian Guardians simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Laughlin Cougars 81-42. With that win, the Guardians brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

It was another big night for Nick Madsen, who went 7 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 42 points and five rebounds. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Pulcini, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

GV Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Laughlin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Israel Trejo, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Celli-Brookins, who posted 11 points.

GV Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Laughlin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

GV Christian will host Lincoln County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully GV Christian likes a good challenge. As for Laughlin, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-46 victory against Lake Mead Christian Academy on the 11th.
