Baseball Recap: Holden Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Holden won against Varnado last Monday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Holden Rockets put the hurt on the Monterey Wolves with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Rockets have won six matchups by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordan Pecoraro looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Holden got a massive performance out of Caden Rivett, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Rivett a new career-high. Cayden Hull was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Holden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monterey only posted an OBP of .294.

The win (which was Holden's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Monterey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Holden will take on Block at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monterey, they will face off against Delta Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Monterey has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
