Football Recap: Caiden Skidgel's Menacing Defense Leads Dirigo over Poland

If Poland wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Dirigo, they should've done a better job of containing Hudson Lufkin. The Cougars put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 39-14 victory on Friday with plenty of help from Lufkin, who rushed for 250 yards and one score while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 161 yards and five TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up four sacks and making 11 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Dirigo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Caiden Skidgel, Trevor Crosby, and Lufkin picked up one apiece. Lufkin's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Dirigo has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.5 points this season. As for Poland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Dirigo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-22 victory against Oak Hill on the 20th. As for Poland, they have also already played their next game, a 34-15 win against Mountain Valley on the 19th.
