Great Crossing put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 71-66 W over Frederick Douglass. Given Great Crossing's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Frederick Douglass is ranked 33rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Great Crossing to victory were Malachi Moreno and Vince Dawson. Moreno dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 17 rebounds, and ten blocks, while Dawson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists. The match was Dawson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Junius Burrell, who scored 17 points.
Great Crossing's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Frederick Douglass, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Crossing won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ballard at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. Ballard knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Great Crossing likes a good challenge. Frederick Douglass won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Scott County on December 9th. One thing working in Scott County's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
