Leading St. Johns to victory were Elli Otto and Josie Overson. Otto scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Overson scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Overson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayme Smith, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Hopi's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-12. As for St. Johns, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Hopi will be playing in front of their home fans against Round Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Johns, they will head out on the road to take on Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while St. Johns is ranked 25th).
