Softball Recap: Southeastern Sets Scoring Season-High Against Vincent

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southeastern). They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over the Vincent Yellow Jackets on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests in a row.

Emellie Hamilton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Southeastern got a massive performance out of Maci Vest, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Vest a new career-high in RBI (three). Bella Kelley also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Southeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southeastern pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vincent, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southeastern will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Susan Moore at 2:45 p.m. on April 1st. Vincent also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Comer at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Vincent is facing Comer at the right time seeing as Comer is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
