The Tolleson Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 57-36 loss at the hands of Shadow Ridge. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tolleson in their matchups with Shadow Ridge: they've now lost eight in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shadow Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aalayah Ramirez, who scored nine points along with eight assists and seven steals. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Blankenship, who scored 15 points.
Tolleson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5-1 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tolleson will take on West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Maricopa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Maricopa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Shadow Ridge is ranked 109th).
