The Saguaro Sabercats won the last time they faced the Apollo Hawks, and things went their way on Friday too. Saguaro walked away with a 55-45 win over Apollo. The win made it back-to-back wins for Saguaro.
Leading Saguaro to victory were Quynnton Weatherspoon and O?shea Bonner. Weatherspoon scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, while Bonner scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Weatherspoon also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Shepston, who scored four points.
Apollo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah White, who scored 13 points along with three steals. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Christian Acevedo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Saguaro's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Apollo, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Saguaro won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Trier at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. New Trier will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Apollo and Scottsdale Christian Academy will face off at 11:30 a.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
