The Hudson Explorers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Howland Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hudson will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Hudson fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Streetsboro on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 58-51 to the Rockets. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hudson came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Streetsboro is ranked 535th).
Meanwhile, Howland beat Newton Falls 51-38 on Friday.
It was another big night for Alex Henry, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Chieffo, who scored eight points.
Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Howland, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Hudson strolled past Howland in their previous meeting back in January of 2021 by a score of 55-38. Does Hudson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
