The Geneva Knights will take on the Evangelical Christian Sentinels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Geneva will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Geneva is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Miami Christian by a score of 10-7.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Incinelli, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Ingram, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Geneva hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, while Evangelical Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for North Florida Christian. The Sentinels put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Sentinels have won 20 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Billie tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Evangelical Christian let Anayeli Guzman and Samantha Yzaguirre run wild. Guzman went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Yzaguirre went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Guzman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Billie, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Evangelical Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, their record now sits at 22-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Geneva has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Evangelical Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
