While losing is never fun, Arete Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while Leading Edge Academy - GEC is ranked 104th).
Despite their defeat, Arete Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sophia De La Rosa, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. De La Rosa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Livia Emery was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Gilbert Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Arete Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.
