Lilian Wray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophia Zimmerman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Sherando hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Strasburg made easy work of Stonewall Jackson on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Merriner was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Kenley Arnold was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Strasburg's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sherando, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Sherando hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Strasburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Sherando might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Strasburg in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
