Blu Peterman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Peterman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hailey Etsitty was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Meya-Raye Bahe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Monument Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Page suffered their closest loss since February 28th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Chinle by a score of 7-5. The Sand Devils' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Makenna Nez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Shanelle Tallsalt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Monument Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Page, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-8.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monument Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monument Valley suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Page when the teams last played back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
