Cascade is 1-9 against Kamiak since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bruins will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Cascade has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Cascade's offense. They lost 11-0 to Glacier Peak on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by exactly 11 runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Kamiak ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Jackson 7-6. Seven seems to be a good number for the Knights as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Synclair Mawudeku made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over ten innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Tyler Karabach was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Gabby Veighey, who went 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.
The victory was the third in a row for Kamiak, bringing their record up to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cascade, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Cascade hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Kamiak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cascade suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Kamiak in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
