The Shea Raiders entered their tilt with the Woonsocket Villa Novans with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Shea enjoyed a cozy 59-40 win over Woonsocket on Monday. Given Shea's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Woonsocket is ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Armani Rivera continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyara Gonzalez, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Woonsocket saw an underclassman step up: Alanna Colon scored 11 points.
Shea pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Woonsocket, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Shea and Smithfield will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Shea is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season. As for Woonsocket, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cumberland at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
