The Cary Imps fell victim to the Panther Creek Catamounts''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Catamounts, falling 34-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cary in their matchups with Panther Creek: they've now lost six in a row.
Will Vetter threw for 81 yards on seven of 28 attempts. Neelan Wilson was his top target, picking up 33 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Santonis Wright rushed for 70 yards.
Panther Creek had a senior duo take command as Sergio Castellon picked up 208 receiving yards and four touchdowns and Will Clancy threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. Castellon's longest reception was for an incredible 99 yards.
Cary's loss was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Panther Creek, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.
Cary will head out on the road to face off against Middle Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Middle Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cary in North Carolina (Middle Creek is ranked 95th, while Cary is ranked 300th). As for Panther Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holly Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holly Springs is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
