Greeley Central was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past The Academy 11-10. Greeley Central's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Anthony Partida was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Richards, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Greeley Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Greeley Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for The Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greeley Central will square off against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for The Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Colorado Academy at 3:30 p.m. on April 1. The contest will give The Academy their first taste of in-conference action this season.
