The Green Hope Falcons and the Sanderson Spartans will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Green Hope is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Green Hope ended up a good deal behind Holly Springs and lost 66-49. Green Hope has not had much luck with Holly Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Green Hope saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rafik Khismatov, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The match was Khismatov's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Cuffe, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Sanderson scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with an 80-68 victory over Knightdale. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Sanderson as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Green Hope's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Sanderson, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Green Hope didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Sanderson in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 70-66 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Green Hope since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
