Greeneview is 9-1 against Madison Plains since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Rams will square off against the Golden Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Greeneview is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Greeneview came out on top against West Liberty-Salem on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Rams have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Greeneview let Lucas Reynolds and Trevor Moore run wild. Reynolds earned three RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Moore went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Moore has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Braeden Gill, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Greeneview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Madison Plains couldn't beat Worthington Christian on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Brayden Evans made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ben Rolfe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Greeneview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Madison Plains, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greeneview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Madison Plains struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Greeneview took their victory against Madison Plains in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
