The Minneapolis South Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 28 points or more this season. They beat Roosevelt on Wednesday by the very same score they won with last week: 82-44. Winning may never get old, but Minneapolis South sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Calvin Peterson, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Peterson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Alexander, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Minneapolis South's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 87.8 points per game. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minneapolis South will take on Robbinsdale Cooper at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Robbinsdale Cooper knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Minneapolis South likes a good challenge. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Como Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
