Lake View is 0-3 against Jones since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will head out to take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Lake View put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Prosser by a score of 16-15. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Amani Giannopoulos and Natalie Benitez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Giannopoulos went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Benitez got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Sofia Olayo also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, Jones waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 17-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly 17 runs.
Nobody will forget Anna Black's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Chicago Academy's batters): she turned in a perfect game.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucy Paskiewicz, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Paskiewicz is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Julissa Galvez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Jones always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Jones pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lake View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Jones struggles in that department as they've averaged .597. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake View suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Jones in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
