Trego is 1-0 against Skyline since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Trego Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Skyline Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Trego's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Last Friday, Trego was fully in charge, breezing past LaCrosse 46-6 at home. Trego pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit LaCrosse had little chance of recovering from.
Trego's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Wynn, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 56 yards and three touchdowns. Aaron Samson was in the mix too, providing Trego with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Skyline got themselves on the board against Macksville on Friday, but Macksville never followed suit. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 54-0 win over the Mustangs. Skyline's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Skyline can attribute much of their success to Brayden Berens, who rushed for 55 yards and three touchdowns, and Jake Hittle, who rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns. Berens is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Trego's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. They've been dominating across those contests too: they took their wins by an average of 45 points. As for Skyline, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Trego has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been even better at 250.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Trego against Skyline in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 52-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trego since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
