The Brawley Wildcats will be playing at home against the Southwest EC Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to a 27-point win in their last game, Brawley came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Calipatria by a score of 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Brawley has suffered since November 14, 2023.
Brawley might have lost, but man, Domanic Vallejo was a machine: he scored 23 points along with seven steals. Vallejo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Thomas, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwest EC's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Calipatria, falling 62-31. While losing is never fun, Southwest EC can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1258th, while Calipatria is ranked 468th).
Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Southwest EC, they bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything went Brawley's way against Southwest EC in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Brawley made off with a 66-43 victory. Does Brawley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwest EC turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
