After a string of three wins, St. Pius X Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Columbus Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The Golden Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.

St. Pius X Catholic couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Columbus a tough time in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-30, 25-23, 15-8.

Stella House paced St. Pius X Catholic's offense, picking up nine kills. House got some help from Eveliina Campbell and her ten assists. Campbell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Payton McNeil was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 11 digs. Those 11 digs gave her a new career-high.

St. Pius X Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Columbus, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

St. Pius X Catholic has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Mount Vernon on the 23rd. As for Columbus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Gainesville on the 23rd.
