The Ponchatoula Green Wave put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Archbishop Rummel 71-56. Given Ponchatoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Archbishop Rummel is ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamard Jones, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Ponchatoula pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Archbishop Rummel, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Ponchatoula will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on De La Salle at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. Archbishop Rummel will be home for the holidays to greet Teurlings Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
