Football Recap: South Pointe Sets Scoring Season-High Against Richland Northeast

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Pointe). They never let the Richland Northeast Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 70-0 win on Thursday. The Stallions have beaten the Cavaliers the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cavaliers has come to flipping the script.

South Pointe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rasean Brown, who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 94 rushing yards gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of R.J. Brown, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Pointe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for South Pointe, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Malik Ratliff, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

South Pointe's record is now 9-1. As for Richland Northeast, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, South Pointe will take on Beaufort at 7:30 p.m. on the 7th. Richland Northeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
