The Blue Ridge Barons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 100-51 win over Roanoke Catholic at home. With Blue Ridge ahead 66-28 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Blue Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shanon Simango , who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kamren Martin, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Roanoke Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Demarcus Brown scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The game was Brown's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Johnson, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Roanoke Catholic were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue Ridge only racked up 20 assists.
Blue Ridge's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. As for Roanoke Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Blue Ridge will head out on the road to face off against St. Michael the Archangel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Michael the Archangel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 221 points over their last three matches. Roanoke Catholic and Virginia Episcopal School will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Virginia Episcopal School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
