Basketball Recap: Leila Parkhill Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Liberty hadn't done well against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Liberty Eagles walked away with a 50-42 victory over the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 64-32 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leila Parkhill, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points and four steals. Those 14 points gave Parkhill a new career-high. Andi Mixer was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] still got an impressive performance from Ali Little, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That was a full 38.1% of West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]'s points, marking the tenth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Adrienne Kaufmann, who earned eight points and five boards.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], they dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 83-52 loss against Brown County on the 14th. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-21 win against Metro-East Lutheran on the 14th.
