Baseball Recap: South View Takes a Loss

South View had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 12-11 to make it four. They lost 13-3 to the Cape Fear Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in March.

South View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Ramsey, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Cape Fear, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Cape Fear, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Cape Fear's side, Caden Jeffrey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Jeffrey has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cape Fear let Brody Jackson and Landon Underwood run wild. Jackson went 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base, while Underwood got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits Jackson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chris Serbio, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will face off against Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cape Fear, they will challenge Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Colts are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
