Rocky River's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
On Rocky River's side, Breylin Burgos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Burgos was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Rocky River let Kevin Ross and Randy Valerio run wild. Ross got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Valerio went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Looking ahead, Garinger is taking a road trip to face off against Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.44 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rocky River, they will be playing at home against West Mecklenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
