Green Sea Floyds is 0-3 against Conway since February of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Trojans will head out to challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m.
Green Sea Floyds is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to Latta.
Maci Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Green Sea Floyds saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blair Elliott, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conway). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Socastee a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Olivia Drew made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Drew was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brandy Smith was incredible, firing off three home runs and six RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Rabon, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Conway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Conway pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Green Sea Floyds, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Green Sea Floyds has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Conway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Green Sea Floyds might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Conway in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
