Thompson Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mountain View, posting a 49-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Thompson Valley found their leader in sophomore Finley Lucas, who threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Tristin Hill helped Lucas out on the ground, rushing for 47 yards and a pair of TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Thompson Valley proved: they limited Mountain View to a paltry 0.9 yards per carry. Thompson Valley's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.43 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.4 on average over their last five games.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Thompson Valley, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lucas, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-19, which was the final score in Fort Morgan's tilt against Roosevelt on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Roughriders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Thompson Valley will need to focus on slowing down Jj Marquez, one of several Fort Morgan players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Ben Fritzler helped Marquez out on the ground, picking up 89 receiving yards and one score.
Thompson Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
