Mesquite is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Gilbert an eight-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mesquite Wildcats challenge Gilbert Tigers at 3:45 p.m. Mesquite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Mesquite will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Skyline on Friday. Mesquite came out on top against Skyline by a score of 13-9. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Mia Gutierrez was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. Jasmine Jaramillo was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Mesquite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .762. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Gilbert didn't have quite enough to beat Sunnyside on Monday and fell 5-3.

Arianna Leon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Kaiya Imel also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mesquite, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mesquite has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .590. However, it's not like Gilbert struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
