Basketball Recap: Shawn Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Summit Charter Collegiate Academy over Orosi

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy was the 73-54 winner over Orosi when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orosi Cardinals on Wednesday. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shawn Smith, who posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Smith's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Maddox, who scored nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-10. As for Orosi, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-49 victory against Orange Cove on the 24th. As for Orosi, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-66 win against Mendota on the 25th.
