The Seventy-First Falcons entered their tilt with the Westover Wolverines with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Seventy-First had just enough and edged Westover out 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Seventy-First's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mylon Campbell, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Campbell's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jacquez Foster was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Seventy-First pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Westover, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seventy-First and Gray's Creek will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gray's Creek comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Westover will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Triton at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
