After a string of seven wins, The Clayton Comets''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Cleveland by a score of 33-31. Clayton has struggled against Cleveland recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Jackson Byrd was his usual excellent self, throwing for 347 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Tyson Stokes, who gained 189 total yards.
Clayton's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Cleveland, their victory was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 11-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will take on South View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Clayton is ranked 25th). As for Cleveland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gray's Creek is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
