The Moon Valley Rockets pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Independence by a score of 60-57. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Moon Valley came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Independence is ranked 174th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Colonna, who scored 21 points. Javon Mcclanahan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Moon Valley now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 1-5.
Moon Valley will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Independence likes a good challenge.
